Episode 137 of Speculate! — Interview with Ed Greenwood

Welcome to Episode 137 of Speculate! The Podcast for Writers, Readers and Fans.  In this episode we talk to the inimitable Ed Greenwood, author, editor, creator of the Forgotten Realms, and head of the new publishing company The Ed Greenwood Group, about his new work and his new venture.  As usual, Ed amazes with his inexhaustible energy and enthusiasm, and his plans are exciting, to say the least–plus we get to hear his thoughts about how publishing has changed over the past ten years, and why now is the perfect time for TEGG.  We hope you enjoyed the chat as much as we did!  If so, don’t forget to check back for our next set of shows, interviews with some of the luminaries at Gen Con 2015.  And if you haven’t already, please check out our Patreon and consider becoming a patron so we can continue to bring you analysis of the best authors, editors and artists in speculative fiction. Thanks for supporting us here and via our Patreon page, and thanks as always for listening to and spreading the word about the show!

Episode 85 of Speculate!–David B. Coe / D.B. Jackson Author Discussion

Welcome to Episode 85 of Speculate! The Podcast for Writers, Readers and Fans.  In this episode we talk to D.B. Jackson (the urban fantasy pen name of epic fantasist David B. Coe) about his Thieftaker Chronicles series and his latest book Thieves’ Quarry, setting the new standard for “tricorn punk” (a term which we think needs to be copyrighted stat!).  We talk about pen names, subgenres, conventions, and how an academic background can be valuable for a speculative fiction author–a subject which Greg particularly enjoys!  David has an interesting perspective on a long and varied career, and we were glad to get the chance to speak to him here; if you enjoyed the interview too, remember to check back in two weeks when we’ll begin our next triptych on the work of Scott Lynch.  Until then, thanks as always for listening to the show, and please continue to spread the word!

Episode 50 of Speculate! – Ian Tregillis Author Interview

TheColdestWar

Welcome back for Episode 50 of Speculate! The Podcast for Writers, Readers and Fans.  We celebrate turning 50 (that sounds less ominous when we’re talking about episode numbers, somehow) with an interesting interview with Ian Tregillis, author of the alternative history series The Milkweed Triptych (he likes that last word as much as we do).  Here we get a chance to talk to Ian about alternative history, how Nazis and warlocks make a cool mixture for speculative fiction purposes, and other miscellaneous subjects like covers, audiobooks and batboys, not necessarily in that order.  If you like what you hear, don’t forget to tune in next week when we’ll start our next triptych of shows on Saladin Ahmed‘s Throne of the Crescent Moon.  Until then, thanks as always for listening to the show, and please continue to spread the word!
